About the Role
An established and reputable group based in Johannesburg CBD is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join their dynamic team. This role is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with experience in payroll administration, process optimization, and client support. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling part of the company’s payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll Processing: Accurately process payroll for a section of the company, ensuring all payments are on time and compliant with regulations.
  • Process Optimization: Review and refine payroll procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Client Support: Act as a point of contact for client inquiries and payroll-related support, ensuring prompt and effective communication.
  • Documentation & Record-Keeping: Maintain up-to-date and accurate payroll records, including employee data, pay rates, deductions, and leave balances.
  • Compliance: Ensure that payroll activities comply with company policies, labor laws, and tax regulations.

Minimum Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:

  • Education: Diploma or Certificate in Payroll or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of proven experience as a Payroll Officer or in a similar role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Sage 300 payroll system.
  • Union Knowledge: Experience handling payroll for unionized employees is essential.

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain accuracy while processing large volumes of data.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve payroll discrepancies quickly and effectively.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of payroll systems, especially Sage 300.

  • Time Management: Ability to meet payroll deadlines while handling multiple tasks.
