About the Opportunity
The eThekwini Municipality is inviting eligible South African citizens who reside permanently in the eThekwini Municipal Area to apply for financial assistance under the eThekwini Municipal Student Relief Fund for the 2025/2026 academic year. This initiative aims to support students pursuing their first undergraduate studies at a public higher education institution. The funding is intended to cover registration fees and may contribute to tuition fees, but it does not cover costs for accommodation, meals, books, or transportation.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for this relief fund, applicants must provide the following documentation:
- Certified copy of the applicant’s South African ID.
- Certified copy of parent(s) or guardian(s) ID or death certificates where applicable.
- Proof of residence with the applicant’s name.
- Certified copy of the Matric certificate (if you have not studied at a higher education institution) or academic record (if you are currently enrolled).
- Proof of parental/guardian income, such as a payslip, employer letter, sworn affidavit, or tax return statement for self-employed parents.
- Proof of unemployment status for unemployed parents, obtainable from the Department of Labour.
- Acceptance letter from a public higher education institution.
- Financial statement from the higher education institution showing registration fees or outstanding amounts.
- Motivation letter explaining why you should be considered for financial assistance.
Special Note:
Applicants are advised to seek additional funding from other sources, as this relief fund only covers a portion of study-related costs. People with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
