Job Purpose:

The Sales Manager will be responsible for managing the parts department staff, overseeing the order process for replacement parts, and driving sales performance. This role focuses on achieving predetermined quantitative objectives such as gross sales targets and GP targets, as well as qualitative objectives like implementing marketing and business strategies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Lead and manage the parts department team, ensuring effective performance and collaboration.
  • Sales Growth: Develop and implement strategies to boost sales of parts and achieve set gross sales and GP targets.
  • Order Process Oversight: Supervise the order process for replacement parts, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Customer Service: Maintain strong relationships with customers and ensure customer satisfaction through excellent service.
  • Marketing & Business Strategies: Execute marketing initiatives to promote products and increase market share.
  • Stock Control: Oversee inventory and ensure stock availability for timely order fulfillment.
  • Reporting: Provide reports on sales, performance, and departmental activities to senior management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education:
    • Matric Certificate (with a minimum of maths literacy).
    • Additional relevant courses/qualifications are an added advantage.
  • Experience:
    • 5 to 8 years of experience in a management role within the motor industry.
    • Strong experience in motor part and truck part sales.
    • Sound technical knowledge and understanding of automotive parts.
    • Experience in procurement and inventory management.
    • Knowledge of ISO standards or a relevant quality management system.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of motor and truck parts as well as technical knowledge of the automotive industry.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong people skills to build effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and staff.
  • Change Management: Ability to drive and manage change within the department.
  • Stock Control Knowledge: Proficiency in inventory and stock control systems.

Desired Work Experience:

  • More than 10 years of experience in sales, management, and customer service, preferably in the automotive industry.

Desired Qualification Level:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
